The INFN GEDI (Gamma Emission in Deep Ice) experiment will develop a gamma-ray detector for 'in situ' measurements on glaciers and snowfields. The detector will be portable, temperature controlled, will use as power source a mixed system composed by batteries and solar cells and will be able to work in harsh environmental conditions.
