DAFNE news
Dear Colleagues,
Dafne has now reached rather stable orbiting parametrs in both rings, and
is now trying to circulate more and more currents to conditioning the
machine (to bring the vacuum to the level before the December 2002 shut
down).
To this purpose it is necessary to circulate about 100/120 Ampere per
ring. Up to now have been circulated approximately 10 Ampere. It is clear
that if they are able to circulate currents of the order of 1 A per hour,
in few days we can reach the operative vacuum. Up to now they arrived
to inject up to 250/270 mA.
In the mean time it seems that the actual optics produce much less
irradiation that previoulsy on the microstrips, When this appens it is
still related to the electrons, not positrons, and apparently irrespective
of the circluating current.
Since now thinghs are moving toward stabilization, in the next week each
detector should provide some people to start switching on them and see
the signals in order to be ready when DAFNE will produce the first
collisions. This date is, however, still difficult to be determined.
