Thursday, 29th June 2006 - h. 10:00 Aula Seminari (JRC Geel - Belgio) The Van der Graaf facility of the EC-JRC-IRMM: a tool for research and development in neutron dosimetry Abstract The Van der Graaf ion beam accelerator at the EC-JRC-IRMM is today exclusively used for the production of mono-energetic neutron beams. Neutron fields in the energy area of 0-24 MeV are routinely produced through different nuclear reactions. Two low-scattering neutron experimental halls with a total of six flexible experimental stations facilitate the necessary environment for accurate neutron physics data measurements. A description is given on how various neutron fields are produced, the characteristics of these fields and how they are characterised. Also some examples of the present experimental activities are given.
