Physics with the Crystal Ball Abstract In a set of
experiments carried out at the Brookhaven National Laboratory, the SLAC
Crystal Ball detector is providing new insights into the properties of
the excited states of nucleons, meson production mechanisms, and decay
modes of eta mesons.
Some topics of considerable interest include isospin symmetries in the pion-nucleon interaction, and the physics of two-pion production. Tests of fundamental symmetries such as P and CP are being examined from the copious production of eta mesons and their decay modes. Continuing and possible future research with the Crystal Ball will be discussed briefly. |
