  The Organizing Committee intends to financially support selected students and young participants. Financial support consists in partial waiving the registration fee and should be requested, being first registered with the abstract of presentation already uploaded, by submission of the Grant Application Form together with a presentation letter of the advisor or of a prominent scientist by March 31, 2023 to the Channeling 2022 Secretariat via email: channeling2020@lists.lnf.infn.it

• Insurance and liability
  

  The registration fee does not include personal insurance. Participants are advised to make their own arrangements regarding travel insurance and medical assistance during the Conference. The Conference Secretariat, Organizing Committees and Organizing Institutions are not able to take any responsibility, whatsoever, for injury or damage to persons or property during the meeting.

• Previous Channeling Editions

Since the first Channeling meeting we have prepared 12 books/special volumes of proceedings. The proceedings of the Frascati conferences were published by SPIE - the International Society for Optical Engineering (Proceedings of SPIE, Vol. 5974 (506pp)and Vol. 6634 (520pp)), those of the Erice meeting - by World Scientific as a special issue of "The Science and Culture Series - Physics" (823pp), while the selected papers were issued as a dedicated volume of the International Journal of Modern Physics A.The Channeling 2010 proceedings were published by the Italian Physical Society as a special volume of Nuovo Cimento C (560 pages), as well as, separately, in the book "Channeling 2010" (Publ.: SIF). The main contributions to Channeling 2012, 2014 and 2016 have been issued as dedicated volumes of Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms (Vols. 309 (277pp), 355 (403pp), 402 (398pp)), and, in addition, as books entitled "Channeling 2012" (Publ.: MEPhI, 563pp) and "Channeling 2014" (Publ.: MEPhI, 490pp), respectively. The last edition of Channeling is presented by a number of peer-reviewed papers separately issued by Physical Review Accelerator and Beam, and finally PRAB has offered a Special Edition dedicated to the contributions of Channeling 2018 (more than 30 papers in more than 260pp).

Some of the aforementioned books were devoted to the memories of Hans A. Bethe, Mikhail L. Ter-Mikaelyan, Jens Lindhard, Vitaly L. Ginzburg, Vladimir N. Baier, Giordano Diambrini Palazzi, Muradin Kumakhov , who in the past strongly contributed to the research in some specific branches of the physics of beam interactions in intense electromagnetic fields, delivering new ideas and knowledge to the community.

• Proceedings

The "Channeling 2023" proceedings will be published as a special, but consecutively numbered, issue of the journal Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment. The contents of the Proceedings will consist of invited papers plus a selection of contributed papers.

1. The format, letter-type and layout will be the same as for the regular issues of the Journal. There will be no page charges, however, with possible length limitation (for a regular paper to be preferably within 4 NIMA ready-printed pages, while for an invited one to be extended up to 6 NIMA ready-printed pages). A manuscript should represent original work not previously published and not being considered for publication elsewhere.
   

2. The Publisher requests the submission of the electronic version of the manuscripts. On-line manuscripts' submission via Elsevier's Editorial System (EES) at https://www.editorialmanager.com/nima_proceedings/ will be required starting from July 1, 2023. The submission deadline of the first version of manuscript is September 30, 2023. All manuscripts should be submitted before this date and the option to submit online via the submission system (EES) will be closed after that date.
   

3. The authors are requested to select the correct article type when they submit their articles in EES. When submitting the papers, the authors must select “VSI: Channeling 2023” as the article type. If the authors select the wrong article type, their paper may end up publishing in a regular issue and not the special issue.
   

4. In the meantime, the authors are kindly requested to have the first drafts of their manuscripts by June 9, 2023, in order to make necessary slight post-modifications before its submission to the journal.

Channeling 2022 will take place in Riccione, a famous Italian seaside resort in the Province of Rimini, Emilia Romagna. The city stretches along the shoreline and has a busy harbor.

Since the 1930s Riccione has been a main destination of summer tourism on the Adriatic Riviera and one of the best known seaside resorts in Northern Italy. After World War II, it was frequented by famous people, such as Pelè, Mina, Ugo Tognazzi, Vittorio De Sica, and many others.

Every two years, a festival called the Festival Del Sol takes place.

The main streets of Riccione, viale Dante and viale Ceccarini have numerous night spots, bars, and hotels and they are the best place for shopping and eating during the day. The seafront is a long boulevard, shaped by a road and a bicycle lane, that reaches up to the town's end going along the sea.

By car: Riccione is on the Adriatic coast, in the south of Emilia Romagna, it can be reached by car via the A14 motorway (Riccione exit). The A14 connects Riccione to the rest of Italy: it is easily reachable from Rome and the south, and also from the north by following the Bologna and Modena motorway interchanges. To see distances, travel costs and traffic conditions in real time, go to: www.autostrade.it

Riccione has a semi-continental climate. Winters are quite cold, while summers are hot and sunny, a little stuffy but tempered by the breeze. Precipitations are equally distributed during the year, even though there is a maximum in autumn.

The best time to visit Riccione is from May until September, during this period, you will experience pleasant weather with a nice average temperature and limited rainfall. The highest average temperature in Riccione is 29°C in July and the lowest is 9°C in January. With a water temperature of around 22.0°C (71.6°F), the sea in Rimini is warm enough for swimming from July to September, while in June it is still a bit cool.

Romagna people love to eat well, and place great importance on their local food and wine. Emilia Romagna is the region with the largest number of typical products. Restaurants in Riccione are famous for their excellent local cuisine, based on both meat and fish. You will find restaurants throughout the old centre and also by the sea, where you can sample traditional Romagna food and wine at any time of year. Here you can enjoy handmade pasta such as: ravioli, lasagna, strozzapreti (traditional local pasta) and tagliatelle with delicious sauce; wonderful grilled fish or fish soup, rabbit porchetta garnished with minced lard, salt, pepper, garlic, pork belly and fennel.

Rabbit porchetta is usually cooked following the recipe of ‘porchetta’, but there are also other ways, like cooking it in a casserole or simmered with Superior Sangiovese PDO red wine.

But the undisputed star and the most classical food is Piada also called piadina, a thin flatbread. Fragrant and genuine, only few elements are needed to prepare it: flour, salt, water, and lard.  The best way to enjoy this food is to eat it with Squacquerone di Romagna PDO cheese, a fresh creamy local cheese, or with cold cuts (we recommend you to choose Mora cold cuts, which are made from the meat of a local dark little pig) and stewed vegetables.

The inland area produces excellent extra-virgin olive oil, tasty salamis and typical local wines such as Sangiovese, Trebbiano and Albana or Cagnina.

Viale Ceccariniis the hearth of the town, it leads from the railway station to the sea with fashion boutiques and brand stores, and a vast range of cafes and restaurants. It ends to the pedestrian sea promenade furnished with fountains, flower beds and wooden benches.

Liberty Style villas speak about the history of the town: Villa Mussolini on the seafront, Villa Franceschi (seat of the Modern Art Gallery), and other beautiful examples of Art Nouveau architecture situated downtown.

The tourist information center is located inside Palazzo del Turismo, the building dates back to 1938 when it opened as the first place on the Adriatic coast dedicated to tourism advertising.

The harbour is a special place for enjoying the sea at sunset or at dawn, seated in a cafe or in a fish restaurant, or simply on a bench.

Going upward from the seafront along viale Ceccarini you'll find: the theatre Spazio Tondelli, the green oasis of the Cicchetti Arboretum, the old borough of Riccione Paese with small shops, the public library and the museum both located inside the Centro culturale della Paesa.  

Up on the hill you can visit the Agolanti Castle built between 1324 and 1343 by the Agolanti Family.

Urbino is a lovely small town enclosed within defensive walls with a remarkably well preserved medieval and renaissance centre. Duke Federico da Montefeltro (1422-1482) a military leader, ruler and humanist patron of the arts, built a palace here and maintained one of the most important court during Renaissance.

Urbino has UNESCO World Heritage status for representing 'a pinnacle of Renaissance art and architecture, harmoniously adapted to its physical site and to its medieval precursor in an exceptional manner'.

The fame of the town was further enhanced because Raffaello Sanzio (1483-1520) was born here, his birthplace is now a little museum, the Casa Natale di Raffaello.

The Palazzo Ducale is Urbino's principal tourist attraction and dominates the town. The Palazzo houses the Galleria Nazionale delle Marche, one of the most important collections of Renaissance art in the world, with many notable masterpieces by Raffaello, Van Wassenhove, Melozzo da Forlì, Piero della Francesca, Paolo Uccello, Titian. Among the masterpieces in the gallery, you can admire: the 'Portrait of a Lady' by Raffaello (better known as “The Mute Woman”), attributable to the Florentine period of the artist; two paintings by Piero della Francesca: the “Flagellation of Christ” and the “Madonna of Senigallia”; and two paintings by Titian: “The Last Supper” and the “Resurrection of Christ”. In the superb Throne Room is a valuable collection of Flemish tapestries, custom-designed by Raffaello.

Museums of archaeology and of ceramics are also situated in the palace complex.
