Call for 2014

Nov. 8th, 2013

to INFN scientific comm. coordinators
     to INFN group leaders
     to BTF users

Dear colleagues,
we would like to give you some information on the planning for BTF operations in 2014:

- In order to allow some maintenance on the Linac systems, the facility will be open to users
most probably from the second week of February, if no major problem will occur.

- The requests for 2014 will be evaluated by the BTF committee during December 2013: we
warmly invite all interested groups to submit their beam-time request by *November 30th
2013*.

- In addition the online form http://www.lnf.infn.it/acceleratori/btf/php/btfLogin.php we
warmly invite all requestors to send some more information via email to btf@lnf.infn.it
including the following:

 * a short description of the setup and reference to the scientific case/experiment and
approval by other scientific committees (e.g. INFN Commissioni Nazionali);
 * if not first-comers, in order to evaluate the impact of the facility, a list of publications with
citation, acknowledgement or any reference to BTF-related data in the last couple of years (or
whichever period available);

- Let us remind you that:
 * in order to have a better beam-time allocation, beam periods are assigned in unit of weeks,
from monday to monday (with a few hours overlap for installation/de-installation);
 * the preferred period indicated in the request can be changed according to availability of the
Linac and general situation of the DAFNE complex;
 * in 2013 the requested time was largely exceeding the available beam-period, so some level
of rejection is possible;
 * adjustment of the approved scheduled is generally possible, provided that some time (not
less than 10 days) is left for access authorization procedures;
 * strict respect of access and safety rules will be enforced by the BTF team at all time of the
facility use;
 * the team-leader indicated in the beam-request will be responsible for all access and safety
procedures on the users side, and will act as contact person with BTF operations and DAFNE
run coordinators.

Thank you for your collaboration, kind regards

Paolo Valente on behalf of the BTF team
